Sand Dunes Memorial Weekend

The three day weekend was spoiled in Utah just a bit by rain and thunderstorms, but overcast makes for great 4 wheeling weather, so a car full of four homies loaded up Saturday afternoon and headed back out to Sand Mountain for some more fun. My camera battery was charged this time meaning I was able to get some video which portrays how awesome this place is better than photos.

May happenings

I just noticed that it has been almost a month since the last post I put up, and it feels like a week. I have actually been quite tied up in the office with a business plan that I was finishing. I put in 113 hours in the last two and a half weeks, so it feels good to have completed that project successfully. Anyway, I did manage to get in a hike up local Big Cottonwood canyon, and also took a day trip to the local dunes called Sand Mountain about two hours out of Salt Lake City. I continue to be impressed by so many awesome places right in the back yard of Salt Lake City. I am upset at myself it took my seven years of living in Utah until I started to enjoy all of these natural wonders, but I am glad I realized it late instead of never.

My good homie Nic back at it again on his new bike. We nick named him Vin Diesel after this trip due to his Triple X movie style bike riding skills, shaved head, and biceps with tattoos. He kills it on his bike though. He was outclimbing and outjumping every person at the dunes.

The dunes are located just outside of an old mining town. Very unique people there. We saw a wedding registry taped to the counter in the one and only Sinclair gas station in town. How funny!

Vin again showing his bike skills. He wasnt even stoked on this jump either, he wanted to find something bigger.
Vin (Nic) and Josh (e.g.o. to c.e.o.), another good friend and rad guy, chilling during a little mid-trek break to fix Josh's flag.

hike photos two

Here are the photos from the hike I did last weekend as well up to Donut Falls.

The foothills leading up the mountains are so green right now. This picture does not show how bright the shades of green were.

A couple massive avalanches came through this zone throughout the spring.

The character of the rock formations is so detailed up this canyon. Amazing trees can grow straight out of rock that high up as well.

A good friend Ryan enjoying some of nature's finest. So clear, cold, and fresh!

Now you can see what its called "donut" falls
